Not Enough Coffee to Get Me Through Monday – The July 30 – Aug 6 south Mississippi forecast

Current mood:

Yes, that gif is from an anime I’ve watched before. I’m worn out, y’all! But the data still comes in and I’m here to help with the forecast. What I’ve been looking at based on the model data is a low pressure system that’s pretty organized making its way through for the next few days. We’ll see a lot of cloudy days, rain and slightly cooler temperatures, but expect it to be nothing short of muggy after the rain is over.

Bottom Line: What we can expect in the next couple of days is good rain chances, a slight chance of severe thunderstorms as they pass through, but overcast or cloudy skies whenever the rain isn’t coming down.

Tonight, we have a small squall line of storms passing through that came all the way from Oklahoma and Kansas that could give us a possible chance of severe weather. I’d keep an umbrella just in case you have to go out tonight. We’ll see a low of 73 by the early morning.

Tomorrow has our highest chance of rain as the front moves through and the westerly winds are a good indicator of its passage.

At 7, there will be some areas getting rain while others will stay cloudy.

At 10, the temperature will climb into the low 80’s with rain chances increasing.

At 1, higher chance of rain and thunderstorms are prevalent around and some might see the chance of a strong thunderstorm in the next few hours.

At 4, we’ll still see most of the rain coming down around the Pine Belt with our high of 89.

At 7, there will be some areas still seeing rain, but otherwise overcast skies as the temperatures cool down into the mid to low 80’s.

Long Term

Wednesday also sees scattered rain chances, so keep your umbrella with you because the front’s not quite done yet. High of 90 and a low of 71.

Thursday also has a chance of rain, however most likely in the afternoon. Otherwise, cloudy skies all around. High of 90 and a low of 72.

Friday sees an equal chance of rain, but we’ll see temperatures start to warm up slowly with cloudy skies. High of 91 and a low of 72.

Saturday starts to see more of a break in the clouds later in the day with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. High of 92 and a low of 73.

Sunday is when we start to ridge over and we experience that heat again just like we did last week. There may be an afternoon shower, but otherwise it’s going to stay hot and a little bit dry. High of 94 and a low of 73.

Monday is about the same as the ridge stays over us with some low level clouds and a small chance of an afternoon shower. High of 93 and a low of 74.

My advice would be to keep your umbrella with you and drive carefully when the rain comes in. If it’s not raining, I would take advantage of that time to do what you planned on doing outside! The sun will be covered for a few days and it’ll be a good time to take care of some outdoor chores or recreation when the rain isn’t falling. Have a good week!
