Nothin fancy, just stormy: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 7/19/24

It’ll be another day of afternoon showers and storms. The heaviest rain is expected along and southeast of the Natchez Trace, with some areas potentially receiving up to 2″ to 4″ of rain, which could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas. Especially considering some folks pick up between 1″ to 4″ of rain yesterday.

While a few strong storms are possible, severe weather isn’t as likely. A bit like yesterday, we may see one or two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings if – and only if – a storm can grow tall enough to drop some strong wind.

And keep in mind that storm damage can happen from storms that aren’t severe. in the right situation even just a 40mph wind gust can take down a tree.

Temperatures will be relatively cool, staying in the 80s during the day. Some patchy fog is possible in the Pine Belt area, particularly where heavy rain has fallen.

Looking ahead to the weekend and next week, it looks like the storms will continue.
