One more colder day, then spring returns

TEMPSHappy Palindrome Day! 3/1/13! Okay, so it isn’t the “official” palindrome day, but it is still pretty cool. Just like our temperatures!

I’ve got more segues than an L.A. mall! Okay, so the “Segway” people mover is spelled differently, but you get the idea.

Highs today will be on the cool side again. The Texas panhandle will be below average – again – with passing clouds and a sprinkle or two. Some of the sprinkles might also be the in form of flurries. No accumulating snow or rain expected.

Just enough moisture falling to deem the windshield wipers necessary a few times between home and work.

In Amarillo, the afternoon high will peak at 44 degrees.

Then the weekend arrives and so does spring-like temperatures. Highs will easily glide into the 50s and 60s this weekend. But it won’t be free. Gusty southwest winds, near 30mph, out ahead of the next frontal boundary will prevail through Sunday afternoon.

The winds will shift back to the north during the day Monday. It will keep temperatures in check, too. After a cool day on Tuesday of next week it’s right back to the warm stuff for next Wednesday and Thursday!

Then Friday into Saturday it looks like another chance for rain, thunderstorms and, perhaps, snow.
