Welcome back to another wonderful week in the weather world! It’s great to be back in the studio looking at all of the new data and charts, so let’s take a peek at what this fine June week has planned for us.
Wednesday June 20th: We can expect a high of 94 with a low of 75. Significant overcast throughout the day will likely bring thunderstorms into our area. There isn’t a large chance for wind today but there is a likely chance for 40% of the region to receive rain.
Thursday June 21st: High temperature today looks to be 94 with a low of 75. Significant overcast continues into today keeping us a little on the cooler side of things while we experience mild thunderstorms to cover a 30% chance of rain. Very light winds continue through until the weekend as we experience a low pressure system moving our direction out of the north west.
Friday June 22nd: High temperature today sits at 96 with a low of 72. A 30% chance for rain can bring expected thunderstorms scattered around southern Mississippi and this begins a strong front with us being caught in the convergence zone associated with a low pressure system moving out of Missouri and in a trough like motion, crossing into the south before moving into the northeast. Light winds can again be found as the atmosphere welcomes the western front.
Saturday June 23rd: High temperature today is found at 95 with a low of 75. Today, again we see a 30% chance for rain which will likely bring light thunderstorms into the area. Light winds continue while the low finally begins the descent to the south. Along with this movement, comes warm, dry air that looks to sit on us for the beginning of next week. As we look at the next few days, we can look to see warmer temperatures and lower chances for rain as a result of this movement.
Sunday June 24th: Expect a high temperature of 96 with a low of 74. Today we’ll likely see broken cloud coverage through different layers in the atmosphere. The chance for rain drops to 20% as the warmer and dry air makes itself known.
Monday June 25th: Expect a high temperature of 97 with a low of 74. We’ll finally get a good look at the wonderful blue sky with few scattered clouds above. Of course, with this comes the higher temperatures with very little cooling agents to keep us in a comfort zone. The rain chance falls to 20% again and we still find ourselves underneath the dry low pressure system. Winds can be slightly more noticeable than in previous days now that the convergence begins to move the low toward the northeast. We’ll likely see southwest winds between 5 and 10 miles per hour.
Tuesday June 26th: Expect a high temperature of 95 with a low of 74. We welcome in more clouds and begin having broken coverage again before the low leaves us on Wednesday. We find a 30% chance of rain returning to the south’s usual. Winds are still very light at under 5 mph out of the west/southwest.
As we move through the rest of the week, we can expect to move into more rain showers and thus, the momentary pause in the sogginess will come to an end for the time being. Let’s take this weekend to enjoy some sun and warmth! Remember to drink plenty of water and to wear hats or take shade every now and then if you plan to be outside during the heat of the day. Have a good one ya’ll!
