Repetitive warmth with increased rain chances heading towards the weekend: Coastal MS/LA/AL – 7/27/22

You are lucky to be near the coast! These communities will see an increase in afternoon storms on Thursday and Friday. If these showers form, they can provide some brief, mild relief during the peak heat of the day. Don’t worry, however! These rain chances decrease quickly before the start of the weekend.

These pop-up showers will be very isolated but could dump upwards of 1.5″ of rain through the end of Friday. The Weather Prediction Center highlights these coastal showers, and, astonishingly, the map shows the rain chances stopping only a few dozen miles inland. So, if you don’t live close to the ocean and don’t plan on visiting the beach this week, you should not expect any heat relief in the form of afternoon showers.
