Showers and storms this morning, with more this afternoon: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 5/9/23

Anyone growing webbed feet yet? There are a handful of showers and storms out there this morning. These will continue for another few hours before dying off. Keep the umbrella handy.

As we move through the afternoon model guidance suggests that a bit of a sea breeze will develop and may meet up with an outflow boundary or two to spark off more showers and storms between the HWY 84 corridor and HWY 98 corridor. Storms would most likely redevelop around 5p and 7p.

These storms wouldn’t likely pack as much of a punch and will likely be pretty short-lived as we will be losing a lot of the daytime heat as the sun goes down- but there is data to support their brief development.

This pattern will continue through Friday. I’m hopeful that things will be a bit drier this weekend, because the hit and miss showers return as we move through next week.
