South Mississippi Forecast: 5/23/21

The dry weather continues for a few more days. Get ready to mow the yard another one or two times before the chance for afternoon storms return as we head into the Memorial Day weekend.

Yeah, I know, just in time for the holiday weekend. Terrible timing.

We are looking at a minor pattern shift as we head through this week, that is the reason. The high pressure that is over the area right now settled into the area from the northeast. It is has drier air and is a bit more stout.

This afternoon
Wednesday night
Next Sunday night

That is about to be replaced by a different area of high pressure that isn’t as stout and comes in with more humidity. That means afternoon storms will be possible. And since it isn’t as strong, it also means it can be kicked back south a bit easier and will allow passing systems to the north to fling showers and storms toward the area.

But not for another few days. So get out and enjoy the sunshine! And the not-quite-as-humid conditions.

  1. VERY thankful for the dry weather we’re now enjoying, for sure!! Also, VERY thankful for the daily weather updates!! I know, after a while, we probably will need a day or 2 of rain, but just not the stretches of ‘2 days of pretty weather followed by a week of rain’ pattern. Thanks, again, for the daily updates! REALLY missing you on the 6 and 10 PM weather spots … just not the same now.
