South Mississippi Forecast: 6/10/21

Things should be calming down for the area in the coming days. Most of the storm activity should remain to the north. And then as we head into the weekend most of the storms should stay to the east.

Next week it does look like a ridge will be building into the West while we also keep eyes on the tropics. The ridge would put the area in a Northwest Flow meaning we would have to keep tabs on the seabreeze (like normal) and also keep our eyes on Arkansas, Oklahoma and eastern Texas for thunderstorm complexes to zip this way. This doesn’t happen “often” but it isn’t rare either. Just something to keep tabs on.

Tropics

Speaking of the Tropics, no real change there. The NHC is still monitoring an area in the PAcific which may toss some extra activity – eventually – into the Gulf. But they are no longer keeping tabs on the tropical wave near Honduras.

The Tropical Update I posted last night is still relevant today, even with the new model data that is out.

Models continue to ‘kick the can down the road’ with when something will finally spin up out there. Which doesn’t instill much confidence in a timeline.

  1. That’s what you keep saying (WDAM too) … that it should be calming down. Yet, for the 2nd night in a row, it came a VERY heavy rain last night. It started sometime after 9 PM and was still coming down after 10 PM. The one doing the weather now completely missed it … both nights. Sure wish you were still doing the weather and I sure do wish the rain would go away, as do the people above I-20. Hope the weather in Houston is better.
