South Mississippi Forecast – 7/13/21: More rain!

How rainy has it been? I looked. According to the NWS, since June 1st there have been four “dry” days at the weather station at Bobby Chain Airport in Hattiesburg. And more than 19 inches of rain have fallen.

It was the second-wettest June on record, with more than 12 inches of rain. The record was set in 2003, with more than 15 inches of rain. And that was only tallied when Tropical Storm Bill rolled through teh area on the last day of the month and dropped five inches of rain!

Here is a look at the raw data

Unofficially, this is the wettest its been when tallying the dates of June 1st through July 11th.

In short: Lotta watta.

Considering a full year at Bobby Chain usually nets – on average – about 60-inches, picking up about one-third of that in just 41 days is a good indicator that it has been rather wet.

And more is on the way…

Daily Timeline

Thigns are not looking good for outdoor activities. There is a “better chance for rain” starting a bit after lunch that will last through about supper time.

It looks like storms may get going a bit earlier tomorrow, like late morning, and last nearly as long. It won’t be a washout tomorrow, but fewer storms may be spaced out over a longer time period tomorrow.
