South Mississippi Forecast 8/19/21

Things are about to get a lot warmer around South Mississippi. High pressure will build into the area this weekend and it will do three things.

  1. It will bump temperatures from around 90 to around 95 – and Heat Index values will climb to around 105 to 110.
  2. It will keep anything in the tropics away from the area. It is the real reason Grace isn’t going to sneak into the northern Gulf.
  3. It will pull back a bit on the everyday storms. Meaning a good ‘cooling rain shower’ looks less likely this weekend and into next week

That ridge will eventually break down, but until it does in the middle of next week, it will be a bit toasty.

Tropical Update

There is a lot happening out in the tropics, but thankfully it is all happening away from the Gulf Coast.

Henri still looks like it wants to scoot a bit closer to the New England coastline while Grace is set to move across the Yucatan. The remnants of Fred are still plowing through New York. Plus, there are two areas to watch – one near Panama and another wave of the African Coast. The NHC is still a bit hesitant on highlighting those two areas, but they are worth watching.

Daily Timeline

Apologies for not posting this the last few days. I actually haven’t had access to the files that produce my graphics for about a week. But I finally have them again, and I’ll do my best to get these posted for everyone.

It looks like storms today will take a bit longer to get up and moving. So most spots should be dry through lunch. But the chance for storms will hold on through supper and into the evening.
