South Mississippi forecast for April 27th, 2021

Some fog this morning across the area as we got quite the push of moist air from the Gulf overnight. Today the clouds may be pretty stubborn at times given all the extra moisture in the atmosphere. While drizzle is possible and a few light showers can’t be ruled out, the amount of ‘meaningful’ rainfall will be negligible.

Severe Weather Outlook

The threat for severe weather during the next 10 days continues to be on the low end of the scale. Right now, it looks like Thursday/Friday may pose a potential for severe weather, but rain and wind would be the main concern. The tornado threat appears to be pretty low.

Currently the SPC is not highlighting the area with any risk for severe weather.

Rainfall Outlook

During the next five days the only threat for rain looks to be on Thursday and Friday. Some of that shower activity may linger into the weekend, but during the next five days, Thursday and Friday look to be it.

Rainfall totals should be held to between 1/2″ and 3″ in total between now and Friday night. The difference between the two numbers will depend on if your area gets underneath some of the stronger storms on Thursday/Friday.

  1. DO hope the graph for 6 AM Friday morning doesn’t happen. Now, an hour earlier or an hour later would be better. 6AM isn’t a good time for heavier rain.
