Spring Said “Hey, What’s Going On?”

It looks like Easter weekend will be nicer than we thought! The rain is clearing out this morning and we’ll have fairly cool and drier weather for the next few days. The stationary front is moving out and a fairly large surface high pressure system is staying over most of the Eastern US for the next several days. With that, we’ll see a lot of partly to mostly cloudy days with cooler temperatures from this weekend into the middle of next week.

You’ll notice the big high pressure ridge over Georgia spanning most of the Southeast. If you look to your South, that sub-tropical Low looks to be moving our way. Image courtesy of Pivotal Weather.

Nick touched on a subtropical low yesterday. Looking at the model guidance, both the GFS and the European models are in agreement that something is happening in the Gulf. Considering the surface high over most of the Southeast, this system doesn’t look like it’s going to make it much further than the coastlines, but with that does mean that many areas close to the Coast including the Pinebelt would see rain. With that also means that we’re going to get some muggy weather. We know what it feels like when we get some sort of subtropical system move through and the weather is just completely sticky outside, and this one would be no exception.

For this weekend, expect cooler temperatures around the upper 60’s to the 70’s with mostly cloudy skies. Early into the week we’ll see fairly similar weather with temperatures into the 70’s with partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Wednesday into Friday will be our chance for muggier conditions and rain chances with the subtropical low moving in.
