If you have missed the abundant sunshine and hot weather that usually accompanies August across the high plains, then buckle up friends, it’s about to get “August-y” for you.
Mother Nature finally shook out the cobwebs and realized that cloudy, cooler weather has no place in August! And she plans on returning sunshine and warmer temperatures to the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles for the next four to seven days.
For today, the area will be mostly sunny and warm with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. There are some weather models right now suggesting a chance for showers and thunderstorms possible southwest of a line from Clayton to Tulia. Right now, it’s looking like – at best – a 10-percent chance. The dreaded “cap of warm air aloft” should hold for today and mitigate any chances for rain.
Tuesday, continued warmth and continued sunshine. Cloud cover tomorrow will be a bit more sparse and temperatures will reflect that. Highs tomorrow will cruise right past the 90 degree mark in most places and settle in the mid-90s.
As Wednesday, turns to Thursday and into Friday, Saturday and Sunday, more of the same. Sunshine, passing clouds and temperatures in the 90s.
