Currently Humberto is moving west at 12mph with winds at 40mph.

The latest projections from the NHC have Humberto forming as the first hurricane in the next 48 hours. In fact, current projections point to the 2am advisory on Wednesday, September 11th, as the point at which is strengthens to a hurricane.  This would “tie the record” for the latest first hurricane of the season. Gustav formed on September 11th, 2002.

The current track spins the storm to the north and then off to the west as it strengthens.

Meanwhile the NHC is still tracking the remnants of Gabrielle.

This storm, according to the NHC, only has a 10-percent chance of reforming into a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
