Warming trend this week, storms return next week: Southern MS/AL/LA Weather Forecast – 1/17/24

Just a short forecast for today: Warmer!

Though, I will say, that is a low bar to hurdle. It can’t really get much colder.

That said, we will see a warm up in the coming days. We will have a chance for a brief shot of more cooler temps this weekend, then we start to warm back up next week.

And as we arm up, it looks like there will be a chance for more rain, more storms, and the potential for severe weather.

The CIPS Analogs show a reasonable shot for more than 3″ of rain late next week and also show a shot for some severe weather, too. This is still a ways away, but it is worthy of extra attention given some of the values being returned from the guidance.
