Welcome to the Thunder Zone: South Mississippi Forecast for June 13, 2018

Good Afternoon Lads and Ladies, today we’re trying out a new bit between us interns. I’ll be providing a look at the short term forecast spanning throughout tomorrow ( Thursday, June 14th) and Noah will carry us out through the remainder of the week. Enjoy!

Thursday June 14th:

7 a.m. – We can expect to see the temperature at 73 degrees to start our day with light overcast and no winds. The surrounding areas can expect similar conditions with temperatures ranging from 71 to 75 degrees.

10 a.m. – Temperatures are expected to rise to 81 by late morning and as we near noon we begin to see light winds out of the southeast at less than 5 mph. We’ll have broken cloud coverage to keep the temperatures mild until the afternoon.

1 p.m. – Temperatures can be seen rising to 86 degrees at this time with the surrounding areas experiencing similar conditions as well as a range in temperature of approximately 5 degrees depending on conditions such as sea breeze and northern storm/rain movement. The broken clouds from this morning will carry through this period and winds are still expected out of the southeast at less than 5 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to be seen through the region.

4 p.m. – The temperature begins to decrease slowly reaching 84 by mid afternoon. The clouds have begun to refuse and form a mild layer of overcast as the surrounding areas experience showers with many parts seeing thunderstorms through the afternoon. Winds continue to be light at less than 5 mph out of the southeast. Expect thunderstorms and rain through your evening and carrying an umbrella as a precaution is probably a smart idea.

7 p.m. – Temperatures drop yet again to 80 degrees with continued overcast and high chances for rain and thunderstorms. The winds carry at less than 5 mph out of the southeast. As we move into the rest of the evening scattered showers can be seen throughout and with a 60% chance of rain tomorrow. Showers all through the afternoon are likely.

After looking at the data, it looks like tomorrow night might be a good night to stay in and binge watch some movies on Netflix. I don’t see any real severity so it looks like the only thing you’ll be needing to stock up on is some popcorn! Have a nice evening!

Noah, take us away on a whimsical ride through the upcoming week!

What’s up y’all! Thanks to Emily for the short term forecast. I’m here for the long term to get you through the week!

Be prepared to wear your thunderwear (and maybe your little dog, too!) because we have rain and storms coming your way throughout the week!

Thursday is raining and storming through most of the day with a 60% chance throughout the morning and afternoon with a high of 91 and a low of 72.

Friday sees the same fate but has a lower chance of thunderstorms. I’m calling for a 60% chance during most of the day with a milder high of 86 and a low of 72.

Looks like the weekend isn’t spared, though. There’s a 50% chance of rain on Saturday, but most likely the rain will start to die off by the afternoon. A high of 90 and a low of 71.

Sunday has a lower chance of rain and thunderstorms, but there’s always that chance due to that daytime heating pulling moisture into the air, so expect rain to happen especially with all the leftover water available from the past few days. High of 92 and a low of 72.

There is a tropical system that is coming through and will bring a possible chance of more rain, but is more than likely going to pull towards the west towards Texas.

On Monday, the heat is going to come in, but we’ll see some low and high level clouds during the day with a high of 93 and a low of 73.

Tuesday cools down with more rain and some thunderstorms coming in (seeing a pattern here?) and a high of 90 and a low of 71.

Wednesday also sees a good chance of rain and storms, however it will die out by the end of the day with a high of 88 and low of 71.

Hope y’all have a good week and be safe!
