Wx Safety: Getting Flood Insurance

Year-after-year we are reminded why Flood Insurance is so important. Whether it is the Flash Flooding events of 2018 in Petal or the multi-day rainfall event of 2016 in Marion and Lamar counties – flooding can be just as damaging as any tornado. And floods can cover my area, too.

Yet, most people don’t have flood insurance.

While Bryan Wood covered a handful of topics in my chat with him at the National Weather Association Annual conference a while back, he does touch on flooding and Flood Insurance.

You may say, “Well, I already have a Homeowners Policy. I should be covered.” But you are not. Your regular Homeowners Insurance does not cover water that rises, it only covers water that falls.
